FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Fabrinet Receives ISO/TS 16949:2002 International Automotive Quality Management System CertificationStandard met at both Chokchai and Pinehurst plants San Francisco, CA – March 22, 2005 – Fabrinet, an engineering and electromechanical manufacturing services company, announced the award of ISO/TS 16949:2002 International Automotive Quality Management System certification for their newly opened Pinehurst facility located in the Bangkok, Thailand metropolitan area. The Pinehurst factory joins Fabrinet's original Thailand manufacturing campus, Chokchai, which attained ISO/TS 16949:2002 certification in 2003. TUV Rheinland, an independent testing and assessment services company, certified both factory sites. ISO/TS 16949:2002 is an ISO Technical Specification, which aligns existing American (QS-9000), German (VDA6.1), French (EAQF), and Italian (AVSQ) automotive quality systems standards within the global automotive industry, with the aim of eliminating the need for multiple certifications to satisfy multiple customer requirements. Together with ISO 9001:2000, ISO/TS 16949:2002 specifies the quality system requirements for the design/development, production, installation, and servicing of automotive related products. The certification was developed by The International Automotive Task Force (IATF), in conjunction with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). “Fabrinet has always thrived on excellence in precision manufacturing and in ensuring our customers the best quality,” noted Ampon Rojanabenjakun, director of quality for Fabrinet in Thailand . “We strive to continuously improve on the quality and quality systems in our Thailand factories. Having recently opened the Pinehurst campus to customers, we are pleased that it has quickly met the rigorous ISO/TS 16949:2002 quality certification standards.” “The automotive industry has been a focus for Fabrinet as our background in optics and complex mechanical manufacturing and supply chain enables us to manufacture and support some of the newer and more complex automotive industry applications,” said Fabrinet's president and CEO Tom Mitchell. “Thailand is a center for automotive manufacturing. As more companies look to outsource manufacturing and seek cost efficiencies in low cost geographies, we expect to play an even greater role in the automotive supply market.” About Fabrinet ##### Contact: Andrea Roberts, A · R Marketing, Inc |
