Dr. Harpal Gill Joins Fabrinet as Senior VP Operations

Disk Drive Industry Veteran to Lead Customer Transition Team

San Francisco, CA – June 2, 2005 – Fabrinet, an engineering and electromechanical manufacturing services company, announced the addition of Dr. Harpal S. Gill to its executive staff. Dr. Gill has over 25 years experience in mechanical design, process design and development, automation, and state of the art quality systems engineering in the United States, Europe, and Asia and joins the company as senior vice president of operations and managing director of Fabrinet's New Jersey, USA subsidiary.

Dr. Gill's vast background includes positions as senior vice president of engineering for Maxtor Corporation in Milpitas, California, vice president of engineering for Read Rite Corporation in Bangkok, managing director of the JTS drive manufacturing plant in Chennai ( Madras ), India, as well as senior management positions with Seagate Technology and Stanton Automation.

As his first order of business, Harpal will be responsible for the transfer of recently acquired JDS Uniphase assembly operations from New Jersey to our factories in Thailand, said Tom Mitchell, Chairman and CEO of Fabrinet. Over the next 9 months, we expect Harpal will relocate back to Thailand, where his strong leadership skills and successful track record in managing operations will prove invaluable as we continue to grow across Asia.

I've worked closely with several members of the executive team at Fabrinet over the course of my career, noted Dr. Gill, “and have watched the company grow over the past 5 years into the world's leading outsourced manufacturer of optical components and modules. I am excited to join Fabrinet to assist in maintaining our leadership position as a manufacturing technology company.

Dr. Gill received his Ph.D. in Process Optimization and In-Line Quality Control from the University of Bradford, UK, and holds a Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing Systems and Mechanical Engineering from Brunel University, UK.
